Story Outline / Character Concept - The Incredible Evolving Woman!

(This is an outline of a story that could someday be written by me. It will obviously contain spoilers for said story, although I'm sure a lot of things would be potentially drastically different in the final version. If you don't want to be spoiled, then turn away!)
The idea is fairly simple - the main growing female character would have undergone an experimental treatment that allows her body to adapt to anything. The initial hook would likely be something along the lines of an accident that left her paralyzed for life, or perhaps something even more serious like cancer.
Going with the paralysis for the sake of outlining:
- It would start with a large emphasis on how secretive and untested the procedure is. Perhaps her husband/lover is a medical researcher who breaks company protocol to put her through the treatment. Alternatively,
- The procedure is, of course, a success. All of the damaged parts of her legs start to heal themselves. Before long, she's able to actually feel them again, and eventually she regains all of their former capabilities.
- To both her surprise and whoever else is involved, her legs not only fully recover, but are stronger, faster and overall far more efficient in general. (This extends beyond just her muscles, the tendons, bones, etc. are all enhanced)
- Some time goes by without much incident. The heroine eventually falls victim to another accident, probably a (relatively) smaller one. A potential example could include getting a massive cut/gash on her right arm. The injury would heal thanks to the procedure, and as with before, the repaired area would become stronger/better than it was before.
- Realizing this pattern, the heroine would start damaging herself and becoming stronger as a result. This would start off pretty minor, and would slowly progress with ever-greater injuries (which would lead to further improvements) Eventually it would even go so far as to the heroine inflicting severe brain damage on herself, and becoming more intelligent as a result.
From here the story could branch off in a few directions.
Maybe the heroine takes things to an absurd level thanks to her newfound intelligence - possibly finding a way to force her body to adapt to, and utilize radiation, allowing her to literally become nuclear powered.
Other characters could be introduced as well. Perhaps another woman undergoes the same procedure, and the two end up fighting.
All in all, this is just a story idea I've had bouncing around in my head. I might end up making it into an exclusive story at some point..!

Hmmm. Potential. I would make it where her evolution is uncontrollable and while improvements are made their not substantial without extreme repetition. The most annoying thing I read sometimes is when characters become more broken then the silver age Superman in a fraction of the time.
